Riyan Parag has been one of the standout players for Rajasthan Royals this season and it came as no surprise when India captain Gautam Gambhir included him in their three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. Akash Madhwal
Akash Madhwal has quickly established himself as a key member of Mumbai Indians’ bowling line-up this season after being chosen as Suryakumar Yadav’s replacement in the 2022 IPL. He is known for being adept at bowling death overs, while also picking up wickets early in an innings.
Roorkee-born pacer Naman Roorkee made the transition from tennis ball to leather ball cricket smoothly and made his T20 debut for Uttarakhand in 2019. Wasim Jaffer spotted him and recruited him into Mumbai Indians’ squad for IPL 2023.

Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla’s record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an effective wicket-taker is legendary. This wily leg spinner can expertly combine leg breaks, googlies and top spinners into an arsenal that can get rid of even the finest batsmen on Earth, such as Kevin Pietersen and AB de Villiers – two names to reckon with on Chawla’s list of victims.
MI’s last season playoff run relied heavily on him taking 22 wickets in IPL 2024 – something they could have added by purchasing more spinners during IPL 2024 auction, yet instead chose to retain him at base price instead. So far this season he’s been impressive.
MI’s bowling attack has relied heavily on Chawla since Bumrah and Jofra Archer have not shown much early season form, relying heavily on him to keep wickets at bay and remain competitive for a top four finish. His role will remain pivotal against Royals.
Tilak Varma
Tilak Varma is an aggressive left-hand batsman for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and Hyderabad domestic cricket respectively. Varma was an exciting find last season at MI and looked comfortable against some of the best players worldwide.
Tilak recently made history when he became only the third youngest IPL player ever to reach 1,000 runs, trailing only Rishabh Pant (20y 218d) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (21y 166d).
Varma was born to a financially poor family. From an early age he developed an avid passion for cricket which eventually prompted his father to enroll him at Legala Sports Academy Telangana under Salam Bayash’s guidance as a mentor.
Tilak was selected by Mumbai Indians at auction for Rs 1.7 crore in 2022 and has performed admirably so far, earning rave reviews from both his team and fans alike. Tilak has an excellent batting style with strong timing – showing versatility at any position in the batting order.
Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma has been the pride of Punjab ever since he emerged on the national scene as an Under-19 cricketer during India’s 2012 Under-19 World Cup title win. The right-arm medium pacer quickly won over fans across India while playing an integral role in India’s Under-19 title victory.
He played for Kings XI Punjab before being purchased back by Rajasthan Royals in 2014. Since then, the 25-year-old has made history within Indian Premier League history by turning in impressive performances for their franchise.
On Monday against MI, Punjab-born pacer Sandeep proved why he is such an elite pick with an astounding five-wicket haul in four overs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Sandeep used variations and cutters brilliantly on a low and slower pitch at Sawai Mansingh Stadium; dismissing Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma during his four-over spell to limit MI’s scoring to just 179/6 before Yashasvi Jaiswal powered them over the finish line to lead Rajasthan home comfortably nine-wicket victory.
Tim David
Tim David is a 6-foot 5in and 260lb powerhouse born in Singapore and raised in Western Australia’s leafy suburbs. Awarded a WA senior contract in 2018, but failing to make the grade; therefore he switched over to franchise cricket where he quickly became one of its most in-demand players.
At his best, he can be unstoppable with the bat – smashing spinners and hitting the stumps effortlessly, he is an exceptional finisher and great finisher of innings. In addition, he can bowl several overs if required as a way of mopping up loose balls from innings.
At Mumbai Indians (MI), Rahul Dravid has proven his capabilities throughout his debut season and it’s clear why they retained him. A trusted cog in their machine, he can be counted upon to score runs against top opposition such as Royal Challengers at 14 balls against them in 2023; his unbeaten 45 off 14 against them marked only the start of an extraordinary run from him – making Mumbai Indians retain him once more for 2024!
