Bangladesh vs. Nepal
Bangladesh cricket team represents their country internationally. It is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, who manage domestic and international cricket in Bangladesh. Bangladesh was granted full membership with International Cricket Council ten years later after playing its inaugural Test match against India at Dhaka.
Bangladesh is a large and densely-populated South Asian nation situated on the Ganges Delta, bordered by Myanmar, India and Bhutan. Bangladesh is considered an emerging economy with an average GDP per capita in 2018 reaching $3,000; its economy relies heavily on agriculture and fishing yet rapidly moving into services and manufacturing for domestic as well as international markets.
Bangladesh has an estimated population of 148 million and is the capital city of Dhaka. Bengali is its official language while Islam remains its predominant faith. Bangladesh is an electoral republic led by an elected prime minister with 25 members serving on his cabinet.
On October 8, 1922, the Bengal Cricket Control Board opened the first cricket ground in Bangladesh, serving as a venue for local cricket tournaments and then later becoming the venue of district level leagues in Dhaka and Chittagong. Later still, in 1958 the first national cricket league took place, which then led to the creation of Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Bangladesh first showed promise in One Day International cricket during the late 1970s. Unfortunately, their fortunes changed over the next decade with multiple defeats throughout both 1980 and 1990; eventually regaining form by 2004 with 30 consecutive ODI victories under their belts since.
Bangladesh remains one of the strongest teams in world cricket despite recent challenges to their side, boasting fast bowlers that pose serious threats against opposing sides, and batsmen that can chase big totals down with ease. They now stand an excellent chance at reaching Super Eights; Nepal would need to exert significant efforts if they want an upset to occur.
Bangladesh vs. Netherlands
Bangladesh and Netherlands’ meeting is one of the key fixtures of Group Stage of ICC T20 World Cup 2024, as a win by either side will seal their qualification into Super Eights while losing could require them to rely on other results to make progress possible. They have met multiple times before with both sides winning in previous encounters.
The Dutch have an excellent track record against Bangladesh in this format of cricket; however, their hopes for making a significant impact at Kolkata have been dampened somewhat due to poor bowling performances from their team this tournament. While their opening game against Thailand saw them perform admirably with the ball, subsequent matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa have seen them struggling against run scoring opponents.
Though they have struggled recently, New Zealand have not allowed a poor run to deter them from striving towards the prize: finishing in the top two in Group D table. Therefore, they remain determined to prevent defeat against Bangladesh and avoid elimination in this tournament.
Aryan Dutt made his presence felt in his first game for the Dutch in this tournament by taking Litton Das out with a well-timed delivery that hit Litton Das in the back and sent him tumbling to the ground. It proved why they chose Aryan Dutt as part of their side in such a competitive contest as this.
Mahmudullah managed to edge a ball from Paul van Meekeren into the boundary for a single. Unfortunately for them, Dutch soon realised they were fighting an uphill battle as Van Meekeren caught Sybrand Engelbrecht at deep midwicket off Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s bowling in the 17th over and bowler Paul van Meekeren then bowled one more delivery off Tanzim Hasan Sakib which dismissed Sybrand Engelbrecht.
Scott Edwards of Netherlands acknowledges Bangladesh’s superiority across all departments but admits their failure to adapt to conditions had an adverse effect. He commends Shakib Al Hasan for his composure with bat and praises Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain’s skills; Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain demonstrated excellent bowling performances from Aryan Dutt; however untimely wickets hindered their chances; they should now enjoy remaining games now that qualification out of their hands
Bangladesh vs. Namibia
On Saturday, Bangladesh will face Namibia at Lincoln’s Bert Sutcliffe Oval with both teams hopeful for success – but only one can leave with victory. A win would qualify Bangladesh for Super Eights; otherwise they risk leaving without earning even one point!
Bangladesh currently hold an advantage in this series with nine wins versus seven. They won their last encounter by four wickets. This will be the opening match in a four-match series that also includes one-day internationals and Test matches, featuring Jaker Ali as replacement for Aliss Al Islam who sustained an injury during Comilla Victorians’ participation in Bangladesh Premier League tournament.
Namibia are back for their 11th appearance at the ICC Under 19 World Cup since first participating in 1998. Though they have yet to advance beyond group stage play, Namibia were top placed associate in two consecutive competitions and will hope to repeat that success this time around.
Nepal opened their tournament with an emphatic victory against USA, with Aasif Sheikh making history by becoming the first wicketkeeper to surpass Binod Bhandari’s 22 dismissals tally in one-day internationals. Karan KC and Gulsan Jha provided excellent bowling support as they delivered some quality deliveries which supported Sheikh’s record breaking effort of 71 runs off 50 balls in the match.
Nepal won their second match of the series by five wickets with 149 balls left, thanks to Sandeep Lamichhane taking five wickets and Soumya Sarkar and Aarif Sheikh each scoring 50+ scores – Lamichhane was named player of the match alongside Bhim Sharki. Since then they toured Oman where they defeated table-topper PNG comfortably before returning home where Monty Desai has taken over from long-term coach Angus Gardner to coach against Scotland and Namibia, winning both games comfortably before facing tough opponent Scotland and Namibia soon enough.
Bangladesh vs. UAE
Nepal traveled to UAE and Papua New Guinea for a four-match ODI series in 2022, winning both games thanks to Gulsan Jha’s 57-ball innings in their opener, before going on to claim victory in both subsequent matches en route to qualifying for 2023 World Cup qualifiers being hosted in Zimbabwe later that year.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first at Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown for their opening T20I of this series, hoping to maintain their success and secure top position in their group and an increased seed in the play-offs.
Parvez Hossain Emon will be an important player for the hosts in this match against Bangladesh. As an opener he has scored many runs during this tournament and would look to replicate that against them; his explosive innings in their opening match against them resulted in victory thanks to him hitting five boundaries and nine towering sixes; thus helping ensure their win.
Bangladesh boasts an outstanding bowling attack, led by Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib. They will be supported by fast bowler Nahid Rana as well as spinners Shoriful Islam and Tanvir Islam.
Bangladesh and UAE both face difficult chances to qualify for the play-offs, with Bangladesh needing to win all of its remaining matches to advance, while UAE must win two out of its final three matches to advance in their pool and qualify. In either instance, other teams in their pool could help ensure they make it past qualification to reach the play-offs.
