Day 1
An amazing contest which showcased the future of Indian cricket. From Shams Mulani’s all-round brilliance to Ricky Bhui’s impressive century, this Duleep Trophy match was filled with skill, drama and passion; an apt reminder that domestic tournaments matter.
Day one of India A vs India D match saw impressive performances from both teams. Riyan Parag made some eye-catching shots before being caught by Yash Dayal for one he could never recover from.
Bowlers on both teams used the new ball well, with wicketkeepers making early breakthroughs against Riyan Parag and making early inroads against him with early wickets taken off both bowlers.
The middle order attempted hard to build partnerships, but their efforts ultimately fell short. Mayank Agarwal managed only 14 deliveries before miscuing his shot against Saransh and being caught at slip for a golden duck.
Ravindra Jaiswal played well while mixing lofty strokes and subtle shots to keep his score ticking forward.
Tanush Kotian and Mulani worked hard in India A’s second innings to provide them with a competitive total. Tanush took two wickets, but his solid performance from Mumbai contributed immensely towards helping India A make an early impactful statement in their second dig.
At the end of day one, the pitch began to flatten out significantly and it proved challenging for India A’s batsmen to find their rhythm. Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma stood tall to hold India A in good stead – Varma scoring 113 in his first innings was notable and contributed greatly towards India A gaining an advantage against their lower order, who ultimately were all bowled out for only 280 – leaving India A with an easy win!

Devdutt Padikkal, KS Bharat and Arshdeep Singh will look to leave an impressionful mark at Duleep Trophy to earn their chance with India national side.
Day 3
Manav Suthar caused havoc for India D with his four-wicket haul and then produced an unbroken century stand with Ricky Bhui from one end as they were bowled out for 203 shortly before tea.
Suthar’s left-arm orthodox bowler caused havoc as India D slipped from 186 for four to 203 for eight before trapping Bhui leg before three deliveries later.
India A had set an impressive target of 488 runs and had only Yash Dubey and Ricky Bhui to defend it, yet their spinners proved too strong for them. Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani both picked up three wickets apiece to secure India A’s comprehensive win.
Final score
After India A scored an impressive total of 290 in their innings, India D had to chase a daunting target with determination and power – something Axar Patel led with his brilliant fifty using both sweep shots and nudges to frustrate bowlers.
Tushar Raheja eventually broke their partnership by having Patel caught at cover by Tushar Raheja; at this stage the run rate seemed uncontrollable and they began losing control.
But Yash Dubey and Ricky Bhui kept the scoreboard ticking over with an outstanding 107-run stand between them that displayed patience, resilience, and versatility from both players.
Once their wicket was lost however, things quickly disintegrated; spinners became involved – Tanush Kotian in particular took control with off-breaks and leg breaks, taking 4/73 wickets to put pressure on the visitors’ middle order.
The India A vs India D match provided more than just another domestic competition: it served as a platform for emerging talent to demonstrate their ability and make their case for national selection.
