“Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan’s approach has served GT well this season. Both players know when it’s best to be patient when taking their shots and minimise risk, which has allowed them to capitalize on any opportunities presented them by conditions with the bat. Their performances have been crucial in recent Gujarat Titans vs Kolkata Knight Riders match scorecard outcomes.”
Ishant to Angkrish Raghuvanshi: SIX! Raghuvanshi smashes an off-break past short third fielder for an incredible six.
KKR needs a special performance from Russell to come back into this game and save it; but, alas, the deficit has become too great now to recover.

KKR vs GT
Gujarat Titans (GT), led by skipper Shubman Gill and disciplined bowling, recorded an emphatic 39-run victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Monday in Match 39 of the Indian Premier League 2025.
Gill and Sai Sudharsan laid down an outstanding opening stand of 114 runs that combined elegance with aggression while prioritising timing and fluency over big strokes.
Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer then attempted to repair KKR’s innings, but GT’s spinners proved too powerful for them to match. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the first over, before Rashid Khan struck twice to reduce them to 95/3 at the end of powerplay.
KKR’s lower order struggled against GT’s spinners, and wickets fell regularly until Angkrish Raghuvanshi made an incredible performance off 13 balls for 27 runs off him; unfortunately it was too little too late as KKR fell short by 39 runs to finish in seventh position in the table.
The Titans’ win puts them on top after six games and boasts the highest run-chase average and longest winning run thus far; furthermore, they become the first team in tournament history to score 500 runs!
Sai Kishore applauded his side’s ability to adapt on the fly. “These past two games have been very different from one another, yet we’ve shown incredible character in how we responded,” he noted.
“My boys are putting up great fight and playing good cricket; I am extremely proud of all their efforts; whether bowling or batting, everyone contributes towards our team success.”
Shubman Gill commented on his performance: “I felt confident out on the course and wanted to put up a big score, so once I hit 100 I was very content with myself and my performance.”
GT bowler Sai Kishore spoke on his strategy against Andre Russell: “My aim was to bowl slowly through the air, anticipating any attempts off their back foot to counterattack me. If they tried something off-balance I just needed to hit a length and stay with it.
On Tuesday, Kolkata can expect clear and sunny conditions, with temperatures expected to range between 31 degrees and 32 degrees Celsius and northwesterly winds of 10-20 km per hour prevailing from 10-20 kmph. Humidity levels will likely exceed 90%.
