Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka

Bangladesh Cricket Board manages and administers their national cricket team, popularly referred to as “Bangla Tigers.” As full members of the International Cricket Council with Test and One Day International (ODI) status, Bangladesh have played in total 108 ODI matches since inception with an overall win rate of 77% and loss rate of 33%; winning 77 while losing 33 matches during that timeframe – leading it to become widely recognized across the world for its aggressive batting style and fielding technique – becoming known by their nickname of Bangla Tigers!

Bangladesh first participated in an International Cricket Council Trophy tournament for the first time in 1979 in England, winning two games to finish fourth out of sixteen national teams.

Their success helped revive enthusiasm for cricket within their country following years of civil conflict and economic difficulties; one year later the Bangladesh Cricket Control Board was created, becoming an official ICC member as soon as 2000 rolled around and becoming the tenth Test cricket nation.

Bangladesh made changes after suffering an embarrassing performance at the 2023 ICC World Cup and younger players such as Towhid Hridoy and Tanzim Hasan Sakib began to flourish, rising up the rankings to fifth for one-day internationals and sixth in Twenty20 internationals respectively.

Both sides have faced each other 108 times in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), with Sri Lanka winning 77 and Bangladesh 23 respectively. Furthermore, both nations have met six bilateral T20I series between them with Bangladesh winning two of those series; additionally they have taken part in two tri-nation and three ICC multi-national T20I matches between them.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto will hope his side can maintain its impressive recent form when they host Sri Lanka in a 2025 ICC Asia Cup match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka. Following an initial slow start, Bangladesh are on an upswing and their victory over Hong Kong has provided much-needed momentum.

They boast an impressive record against Sri Lanka – having only lost two out of nine One Day Internationals against them during that period! Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka-led team will look to build on their recent solid start, keep pushing Bangladesh hard and maintain pressure by keeping pressure on Bangladesh!
