1. LSG

After an inauspicious start to their campaign, LSG have lost five out of six matches and appear likely to miss out on qualifying for playoffs.

Still, they can salvage some pride against Mumbai Indians at Ekana Stadium before playing their last home fixture of 2019.

Rishabh Pant, captain of LSG, acknowledged his team’s injury woes as contributing to an underwhelming campaign but expressed confidence in their ability to compete successfully in this tournament.

On Monday, however, poor batting performance contributed to South rHam’s 10-wicket win against LSG with just Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram scoring half centuries for LSG but no other player reaching double figures other than Nicholas Pooran who reached 10.

Pooran was particularly impressive, hitting three fours and one six during his 20-ball 59. Kamindu Mendis made an outstanding contribution as well, scoring 47 from just 28 balls before apparently injuring himself while running between wickets.

SRH’s victory secured their top-four finish and will face the winner of Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals clash in Qualifier 1 match on 21 May. LSG were knocked out of playoff contention, leaving them seventh with 10 points; although, they can still secure quarterfinal status if they can beat both RR and KKR, which may prove challenging!

2. PBKS

The Punjab Kings, previously known as King’s XI Punjab, are an India Premier League Twenty20 cricket team based out of New Chandigarh and operating within India’s Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul operate this joint venture and home matches are hosted here.

PBKS’ debut season was an uninspiring one, failing to qualify for playoffs. However, things gradually improved with the arrival of new head coach Michael Bevan and captain Adam Gilchrist as well as revamping their roster at the 2025 IPL mega auction with experienced as well as younger players.

PBKS’ 2022 season saw them win seven and lose six, ending sixth on the points table but qualifying for playoffs, where they were defeated by RCB in their opening qualifier game.

In the second qualifying matchup, PBKS defeated RR in a nail-biter with two balls remaining and advanced to their maiden IPL final; unfortunately they lost to CSK in an intense high-scoring affair that set an unprecedented IPL final scoring record of 95 runs!

On Thursday during the PBKS-RCB match, 101 runs were scored over 18 overs – which marks a new low all-out score by any IPL playoff or knockout match since Deccan Chargers scored only 82 all out against RCB for third place in 2010.

Furthermore, this match marks the shortest completed IPL match (excluding shortened matches ) in terms of runs scored.

4. RR

Rajasthan Royals standings reveal an unpredictable and eventful season filled with learning moments, unexpected crashes and inspirational performances.

Although their 9th place finish in IPL 2026 League Stage may have been disappointing, their talent and potential could still rival that of top teams if they apply what they learned this season to rebuild intelligently and return with more balanced and powerful squad.

RR had an outstanding start to their IPL season, winning their opening four matches before falling victim to the Titans on the final ball of a high-scoring encounter. But they quickly bounced back with impressive runs of form including equaling the highest successful chase ever in IPL history against KKR in Jaipur.

However, defeats against top teams hampered their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Uneven batting performance, fragile middle order composition and weak death-over bowling all contributed to this collapse; poor fielding also played an enormous role; numerous dropped catches and misfields cost several points for them in critical overs.

RR have won two out of their last three matches to move up into fifth place with 14 points, keeping their playoff hopes alive but facing stiff competition for qualification from top six teams that all accumulated at least 14 points by now.

Yet the team remains optimistic of making it into the playoffs if they can maintain their current momentum; making necessary adjustments to batting and bowling strategies as well as finding solutions to issues plaguing performance against top teams this campaign may help ensure their passage to post-season play-offs.

5. SRH

SRH’s batting was dominant against Kolkata Knight Riders during their final home game of the league stage, as Heinrich Klaasen scored an unbeaten 105 off 39 balls – supported by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma who both hit double figures off 38 deliveries respectively – helping SRH amass 278/3 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium – third highest total ever seen in IPL history!

As Kane Williamson led his South Riding Hearts side through eight wins out of 14 matches and finished second in the table without David Warner due to his involvement in ball-tampering scandal at Newlands, Bhuvneshwar Kumar won Purple Cap honours while Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan took several key wickets each season.

In the playoffs, SRH tied Delhi Capitals and lost to Chennai Super Kings but still made it through thanks to their superior net run rate. In the semi-final matchup against Mumbai Indians, Williamson led his side to victory – ultimately becoming IPL Champions under Williamson’s guidance.

After an inauspicious start to their campaign, Sunrisers Hyderabad have found their stride, winning four of their last five matches and becoming unstoppable once more.

A victory against PBKS and two victories over GT and MI will seal their spot in the playoffs; though without other results going their way they may still fail to finish in top two positions. As soon as quarter final play commences with Mumbai Indians at home presenting them a formidable test.
